I am a new teacher who loves project-based learning, classroom experiments, and integrating sensory experiences and presentations into my lessons. I enjoy and find the importance in working with students one-on-one and in small group settings — so that I can fully understand their strengths and the areas in need of growth. I believe that this approach allows learners to create an environment where they can interact with their teachers and peers by sharing experiences, knowledge, curiosities, and asking questions! Learners can capitalize on each other’s understanding of the information, and with that, recognize their own unique set of skills.

my approach

For reading instruction, I am trained in Orton-Gillingham Multi-Sensory Reading Approach, which is a science-based reading intervention that combines auditory-kinesthetic learning, technology-based presentations, sensory-based writing, and highly structured routine for the student to study phonics, reading, and writing.

I believe that tracking progress is extremely important. I believe that data should the the driver of most decisions based on academic goals and motivations. I collect data every week through weekly spelling tests, writing tests, and one-to-one testing.

For math instruction, I am trained in AVMR+ (Add+Vantage Math Recovery) science-based math intervention. AVMR+ is an approach that supports elementary educators, special education instructors, math interventionists, and math coaches in diagnosing and advancing student understanding and numeracy development. The assessment, data collection, and teaching tools are designed to accelerate the ability of educators to recognize students' current levels of numeracy understanding to make data-driven instructional decisions.

I am excited to further my learning and explore my teaching style and approach for years to come!
